How to use Paste Guard
A 90-second silent tutorial with captions: install, paste something sensitive, choose Paste masked, see values restored in replies, mask a word, and change settings.
About this video. It is a simulation on a stand-in chat page, using made-up data, not a recording of a real AI product. The warning window and the detectors are the real ones from the extension. There is no audio; captions are on by default.

How to use Paste Guard, in about 90 seconds. Install Paste Guard from the Chrome Web Store. Open the puzzle menu and pin it, so its settings are one click away.
Paste something sensitive 0:10
Paste something sensitive into a supported AI chat. Here is made-up text. Paste Guard pauses the paste and lists what it found, before anything is sent. Only the first two characters of each value are shown. Nothing leaves your device.
Choose Paste masked 0:22
Choose Paste masked, or press Enter. Each value becomes a numbered placeholder. Paste anyway and Cancel are there too. You always have the final say. Now send the message.
Restore in replies 0:32
The assistant only ever receives the placeholders, such as EMAIL_1. When its reply uses a placeholder, your screen shows your own value again. Press Option+R to see what the assistant really saw, and again to switch back.
Mask a word 0:46
Mask a word of your own: select it in the message box. Press Option+Shift+M, or the Mask this button. It becomes a placeholder. The word is saved to a personal dictionary on your device, for every future paste.
Settings and Ignore 0:58
Open the Paste Guard icon to change settings, such as turning a detector off. With Email off, the same text no longer flags the email. Press Ignore on a row to let that exact value through. Only a one-way hash is kept. Then paste masked as before.
Verify it yourself 1:16
Check it yourself: chrome://extensions shows only the storage permission and the supported sites. Keep the Network tab open while you paste: nothing is sent. Paste Guard is a safety net, not a guarantee. Try the interactive tour on the Paste Guard website.
